CEMA AWARDS FOR 2018
Each year at the Colorado Emergency Management Conference, CEMA takes time to recognize a few outstanding individuals from around the State of Colorado. These awards are from CEMA and are different from the ones that DHSEM does every year. CEMA awards include:
  • Rookie of the Year Award (One - Statewide)
  • Mike Gelski Award for Outstanding Volunteer Achievement (One - Statewide)
  • Public/Private Partnership (One - Statewide)
  • All-Hazards Comprehensive Emergency Manager of the Year Award (One per State Homeland Security Region)
An individual must be nominated by at least 2 people, of which one must be a CEMA Member. Anyone can be nominated, even if they are not CEMA members.
All nominations are due by Friday, January 18, 2019. Visit theCEMA Awards for 2018 for details and to for the link to submit a nomination. For any questions, feel free to contact Jim Krugman, the CEMA Awards Committee Chair, at james.krugman@denvergov.org.

2019 CEMA Board Elections
Every year at the Colorado Emergency Management Conference, CEMA holds elections for 2 of its 5 Board Members, per the Associations bylaws. This year the Vice-President and Recorder positions are up for election. To assist in the process we have made anBoard Election Information Page where you can find information on how to submit your intent to run for office, or to see information on all of those who have submitted their intent to run for office.

All those wishing to run for one of the open positions must submit a letter of intent, no later than December 30, 2019 to the current Recorder, Terry Hoecker atterry.hoecker@durangogov.org.

Conference Lodging
This years process for reserving your rooms for the conference is more challenging than the last few years. The host hotel that was chosen this year does not have as many rooms as the one we have used in recent years. The decision to have the conference at this site was made knowing that not all conference attendees would be able to stay at the conference site, but would be utilizing the local hotels also. We were only able to reserve 200 rooms for our reduced rate room block. Of these 200, 150 were set aside initially, for the rooms that DHSEM would be paying for, which includes EMPG-funded, Speakers, Conference Staff, and others due to the contract with the Embassy Suites. When and if there are rooms that we will not need for this group, they will be released to general conference attendees to reserve. If you do not want to wait and hope for a room that might be released, the following hotels nearby still have rooms available. Thanks for your patience!

Conference Agenda
The Speaker Committee has been working hard and have chosen most of the presentations that will be available at the conference. The DRAFT Agendais available for your review. But please remember this is a DRAFT and could / will be changed over the next couple of months. For any questions for the Speaker Committee, please contact Merrie Garner atmgarner@weldgov.com.

Conference Sponsors/Exhibitors
The 2019 COEM Conference Sponsors/Exhibitors Registration Pageis active! Please encourage the vendors that you deal with to think about being one of our Sponsors or Exhibitors at our conference. The exhibit area for our conference this year is larger and more convenient for not only the Sponsors and Exhibitors but for our conference attendees also. Help make our conference successful and share the information. For questions about being a Sponsor or an Exhibitor, please have them contact Scott Morrill at smorrill@gunnisoncounty.org.
